This month, many people in our community are celebrating love. In bubbles or online, we’re spending special time with spouses, partners, children and friends. How about we all show a little love this month? Here are two ways you can get on board at St James.
February 8th to 12th, 2021
Normally in February we would have offered a Spaghetti Dinner and a Pancake Dinner (and charged about $21/person or $42/couple). That won’t be happening this year. So we’re going Virtual for Valentines like we did for the No-Bake Bake Sale. Last November we raised over $700 and didn’t consume a single calorie!
This February, choose from a variety of virtual tokens of your affection:
– a dozen red roses, $20
– a box of chocolates, $10
– heart shaped cookies, $5
– heart shaped balloons, open donation
Your donation will go towards the ministry of St James Carleton Place, and you will receive a card you can print and give to your valentine(s). Fill out this online form or download and print a paper form. You can complete your donation online or include it with the paper form and deposit both in the mailbox at the church.

Get together on Zoom
Tuesday, February 16th, 2021
5:00 pm to 6:45 pm
At St James, we love to eat together, and that’s something we miss the most right now. So we’re going to have dinner together on Zoom!
Here’s how this is going to work. Each person or household prepares their own pancake dinner at home. You can either put a table group together or join an existing table to Zoom with at dinner. If you want to organize a table, set a time with your group to get together and choose a time within the 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm time slot. If you aren’t putting a table together, just let us know you want to come and you will be added to an existing table.
Register with Marg McGregor by email or by calling her at 613-898-1257, and she will assign a table number to you. You will receive your Zoom meeting details by email before the event. Registration deadline is February 12th.
St Jimmy’s Table Picnic: For our event in June, we are going to have a picnic, and everyone is invited! There will be BBQ, old-fashioned church picnic games, and a ton of fun. This event is not just for our families but for everyone in the parish. Our new youth group, Young Leaders’ Connection, will also be meeting as part of the event. It happens on June 23 at 5 p.m. at Riverside Park. Keep your eyes peeled for more details. We’d love to see you there!
St. James will be hosting a Bicentennial Tea during the 2019 Doors Open event. From 10 am until 2 pm, we invite people to enjoy scones, homemade preserves and tea, with a sandwich selection offered from 11 am until 1 pm. Donations are appreciated, with a portion of proceeds going to Carleton Place’s Christmas Basket program.
